Organized by Arogya World in partnership with HRIDAY, and with support from Salesworth India Pvt. Ltd., three hundred school children participated in a week-long city-wide poster-making competition in selected schools throughout New Delhi on the dual occasion of Children’s Day and World Diabetes Day (WDD) on November 14th, 2011. The theme for WDD was ‘Diabetes Education and Prevention,’ and so the children were given the following theme for inspiration: Diabetes Can and Must be Prevented with Exercise and Healthy Eating.
All of the children received certificates of participation, and the winners also were given small cash prizes.
“Young children can grasp issues quickly and use art to convey clear and concise messages like the role of a healthy diet and physical activity in diabetes prevention. By involving children in such competitions, we can reach a much larger audience as the children take the message home and tell their friends and family about it.” said Shalini Bassi, Head, Programmes, HRIDAY.
We’re delighted to present the winners here, and offer our thanks and congratulations to all of the participants for their imagination and creativity. We wish you the best in your academic endeavors and a lifetime of good health!
We invite you to view the album and congratulate the winners on our Facebook page.
