Bangalore Design Week builds future possibilities for the city by facilitating collaboration between citizens, designers, institutions, and the government, using design as a catalyst for change. Last December, as part of BLR Design Week, Arogya World was invited to lead the conversation through 2 sessions at the World Design Protopolis Conclave 2023 and shine a spotlight on Bengaluru’s pivotal role in India’s journey toward achieving the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). In collaboration with Catalyst 2030 NAISE, the platform further addressed challenges, fostered meaningful dialogues, and assessed progress. The platform brought together thought leaders, change-makers, and experts to explore ideas that enhance Bengaluru’s liveability, resilience, and inclusivity. Dr. Nalini Saligram shared her views on the pioneering and exciting Arogya City approach in Bangalore, and the importance of addressing seemingly intractable challenges like diabetes through multi-sector collaboration in cities, at the plenary. Dr Anupama Shetty, Mission Director, BIOCON Foundation, shared her views about being a pledgemaker of Arogya City and the progress they have made on screening for cancers. She stressed upon the importance of community engagement. Ms Archana Raaj, Lead, Arogya City, covered how in one year the project has gathered momentum, is building a critical mass of Pledgemakers to make the city healthy and that new pledgemakers coming from diverse communities are reaching out to every section in society. |
